The Senior Band in front of the Rylstone Gardens Bandstand (July 2019)
(in their new uniforms)

The Senior Band is the main band for adult players that from time to time does have a few young people in its ranks.

It is an active performing and contesting band, giving concerts throughout the year and regularly visiting the mainland to take part in competitions (viruses permitting!!).

2021 Cory Online Contest

Due to the Coronavirus and the absence of normal contests, in March 2021 the Senior Band entered the Cory Online Contest with this video:

Here are the comments for our video:

Stål Himmel - Nice to see a bandstand featured! Loving all of the pictures of the band performing. Although nothing will replace normal banding, this contest has become a great form of band-withdrawal therapy. This is a lovely piece and fits the sentiment of their programme brilliantly.

Song for the Frontline - Lovely solo from Principal cornet and brilliant tribute to the wonderful men and women of the NHS! Fantastic demonstration of how they made their band room a safe space for rehearsals! I think this should be distributed as an example should we have to follow these procedures for the foreseeable in order to go back to band safely. This is played with such heart - bittersweet, but beautiful.

I See the Light - soloist Charlotte Lewis - YES, I love this section for bringing Disney into the contest. Stunning playing from Charlotte and your background is beautiful too, I may need to build a background like this in my office! Great soprano sound. I never realised how much this song actually does sum up our current situation - all those days watching from the windows.

The Great Escape - well I was just wiping the mascara from my face and nearly poked myself in the eye with the sudden introduction from this classic! Short but sweet.

I'm sure James Sparks would have been so proud of this band's fantastic performance. A wonderful programme - congratulations!
